Well the same Monday that Honey got sick we noticed that Moose was limping really bad. It was like his foot was asleep or he had pulled something. We tried everything we knew of to figure out what was wrong. He was not in pain in any way. He even was over compensating when he walked (or ran - he 2 you know) Finally I gave in and called the Dr. J, our ped's dr. We were told he would need x-rays to confirm what was wrong. It could be one of many reasons. We ended up going to the All Children's ER.
They observed him walk and run, then x-rayed Moose legs and hips. They came back w/ a diagnosis of Toxic Synovitis also known as Transient Synovitis. We where told to give him Tylenol or Morton for pain and follow up with an orthopedic dr. Well the boy did not complain at all of pain so that night we did not give him anything.
I called and made an appointment with the Orthopedic doctor, Dr. B. But when I was making the appointment they told me to give Moose, Motrin around the clock over the weekend. To help with his inflammation. We started that and did that all weekend and wouldn't you know it by Monday he seems 99% better. Every so often you will see him stamp his right foot like it his hip bothered him. We did go to see Dr. B (orthopedic doctor) and he confirmed the ER's diagnosis and told us to keep going with the Motrin for the next few days. What he told us was that the virus that he had some how worked its way to his hip and decided to stay there. After about 5 days that virus caused the hip to be inflamed and make him to start limping. He did warn it could come back when he gets a fever again. Now we know what to do if it does happen.
After reading what the internet says about Toxic Synovitis, I wonder if it will show up when he starts puberty? We will have to just wait and see. We have lots of years till then.
As for Biggun he has enjoyed the not starting back to school completely. See we where supposed to start back about 3 weeks ago. We did one week of school then kids started getting sick and well school got put on hold. We did start up again today. I am loving our bible curriculum Draw to Learn Psalms. It starts some great conversations between us. Love how God is working in us through this curriculum. We came across a few words in the bible that he really struggled with. I decided to try to find some extra games to help
