ABC's of Homeschooling - H

H is for Homeschooling, but really is homeschooling really is it ever always done at HOME?

Link up to the ABC's

Ever heard of vacation schooling, roadschooling, what about carschooling?

All of these are valid ways to school.  For my own family carschooling is very popular. It is common to find a history cd or math facts cd in our cd player in the car or even both (we have a 5 disk player.)

Printed worksheets from time4learning.com on a clipboard is always a possible find too.

You will usually find books of all kinds in our van.

Magnadoodle is one of my favorite car toys. We need to get another one because Daisy May our puppy chewed the magnet off of the one that usually is in the car. :^(

I even ran into a mom at the dentist who was doing school in the waiting room with her other children while one was there for a check up.  It should be just called Schooling! Cause we are very seldom do it only at home.

Do you do vacationschooling, carschooling or roadschooling?

Be sure to join me over at Dawn's "The Momma Knows" blog to see what "H" is for other Homeschool Mom's.

  1. This is so true! While I would prefer we be HOME, we aren't always, and I've been known to tote along math books, reading books, and even my laptop to appointments so the kids can do their school work on the go. :)

  2. I totally agree with your post too! We tend to do most of our "school" work here at home, but there is always a learning opportunity out there, just waiting. Thank you so much for that delightful posting about our daughter's book. You have a lovely blog and I will be reading it often!

  3. Although we are home quite a bit, we also used other ways to homeschool this year. At the beginning of September, we took a trip to the East coast and visited/drove through 6 New England states. It was such a wonderful learning experience!

The girls also bring something to read or do while they are in the car since we live in a rural area and getting from place to place always takes awhile.

Yesterday, the girls brought some of their school work with them to the nursing home. Not only did they get to visit their grandpa (who lives there), but they had the opportunity to feed him (he's in the late stages of Alzheimer's Disease), talk with the nurses there, and do their school work. They learned a lot more than the lessons they were working on!
