Season of Life

Season of Life, what does this statement mean? For many this statement means little ones in their life but for others it means a trying time in their life.  For me it means both.

My world changed so much over the past 4 years.  From the unexpected pregnancy, then to find out it was a GIRL, to finally getting used to the idea and enjoying my daughter to the surprise of a lifetime to learn God had blessed us again w/ another little one to come.

Now fast forward about 4 years later and you have a beautiful opinionated soon to be 3 year old girl and a loveable active 1 year old boy that make our family complete. Being that we were a family of 3 for so long; about 8 years, we are definatly in a "Season of Life" of little ones.

Our family has been established since 1993 and in the past 6 months we have had more sickness and injury in our house then we have ever had.  Just when we think we are getting healthy in our house another child gets sick.  Then on Dec 28th, Big Daddy gets into a motorcycle accident and we now through in the injury.  I am told by many it is due to the "Season of Life" we are in.

The Bible tells us "For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven." Ecclesiastes 3.

It gives me such comfort to know that God knows all before it happens and even though I might feel like this "Season of Life" will never end due to all the ups and downs we have been having.  I know all to well that this "Season of Life" is flying by and will be gone before I know it, I will look back on this time and wonder why I wanted it to end so fast.

I am reminded  "I am certain that God, who began the good work within me, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns."
Philippians 1:6

What "Season of Life" are you in?

  1. Oh Brandy, I had a similar season once upon a time. My husband had a life threatening illness with subsequent surgery, only 2 days after our youngest was born. You are right to rest in the Lord and know that he is in control of all things. God saw us through, and is now seeing us through our new season of life as the first of our children prepares to leave home. Remember and rest knowing that God has a plan! For his plans are far better than any we could imagine!!

  2. Dear Brandy,
Your post reminds me of the book I am currently reading - "Dancing with My Father" by Sally Clarkson. The subtitle of this book is "How God Leads Us into a Life of Grace and Joy." So much that happens in our lives is not what we would have chosen for ourselves, but our loving Father knows what is best and how best to produce His fruit in our lives. I know that this season of your life has been difficult to go through, but I can tell from what I have read in your blog and on your facebook that you are seeing God's faithfulness throughout this time.

I have struggled with having joy in my journey, which is one of the reasons I started reading Sally's book. I am learning that joy is a fruit of going through trials and struggles and trusting in God through them. It's learning to see things from His perspective instead of my limited view.

I'll leave you with this quote from Sally Clarkson's book: "Great joy comes in the freedom of having passed through difficult seasons and having seen His faithfulness along the way."

Keep focusing on Him, trusting Him, and knowing that He is always with you, Brandy. Thanks for sharing your journey here.

    In Him,
    Christa

PS - your new template is really cute. :-)
