We are on week 2 in our study and I just wanted to share a little from this week.

This weeks theme is Control Freaks.

Each day was full of great ways to help us all remember God is in Control.  

"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." Ephesians 4:2

I think everyone in our class found the advise she gave in dealing with others who are "CoNTroL FrEaKS"

1. Be "Jesus calm," Controllers tend to generate a lot of tension.  Keep your distance (physically and emotionally) so that you can tay focused when you speak to them.  Your calm body language and speech will help them stay calm, too.
2. Choose your words. The normal tendency is to speak rapidly and loudly when you speak to those who are trying to get the upper hand. Deliberately slow your rate of speech and carefully choose your words. This will have a calming effect on you and the other person.
3. Practice patience.  Controllers need to be heard. Let them vent.  Show them with your facial expressions that you care about them.  Offer a few words to let them know you've heard what they've said. Remain calm until they've finished.
4. Be kind. Pulling this piece of artillery from your arsenal will have unbelievable results. While the person is building those defenses of anger and lashing out, offer nothing but kindness. There's nothing like kindness to jam up a full-fledged verbal attack.

This is a great bible study and I recommend it to anyone to do alone or in a small group!
