We are still using Time4Learning.com. We use different levels for different subjects. Math is his best subject and we are using sixth grade math for that. He is having to take his time w/ this as he has finally gotten to a point that he really really has to slow down and read and pay attention no more doing things his own way. He has to follow the mulitple steps to get to the answer. Fractions will do that to you every time.
For Science he is in the the fifth grade level, this is not due to his learning level it is because we had started a grade behind last year so we would not miss any of the fun stuff in science. He is learning about Scientic Investigations right now. He really enjoys it.
For Social Studies he is in fifth grade level also again for the same reason, we did not want to miss any thing in these levels so we started out a year behind last year. We should catch up at one point or another. He is learning about Ancient Greece right now. He likes the alphabet I caught him drawing this am his name in Greek. I might have to look into Greek more for language???
Language Arts and Reading we have switched to Abeka's Pilgrims Progress. I know it is on a younger level (4th grade) but Biggun is at a younger level in his reading skills. There are lots of possible reasons for this but I don't want to go into it. He is doing GREAT w/ reading the Pilgrims Progress and answering the questions at the end of each chapter. He seems to have taken ownership of this new approach to Language Arts and Reading. I now have to start looking ahead to when we finish Pilgrims Progress what will we do next. I do love that I can send him on line for vocabulary games.
We are still doing spelling and using Spellingcity.com to reinforce what he is learning.
We have read through Matthew and will start on another book of the Bible in a day or so.
Biggun is doing good in Scouts, he will be a Tender Foot in the next week or so. I am so proud of him. He was so excited when he came home and shared that w/ me this past Tuesday.
I think that is about it for an update on Biggun! He is such a great big brother, I turned around the other day while washing dishes to see the picture below. Moose had been bugging him and he just picked him up and let him sit on his lap and Biggun kept on working on his school while Moose sat on his knee watching tv behind him.
