Fall in Florida!

It is Fall in Florida. I know that does not show much in the way of color change or in temperature change but oh the HU-MI-DI-TY level goes down, like how I broke that up into syllables? (I am laughing as I write) WOW, does that make a difference and we can enjoy the "fall" like temperatures.

Some things I love to do when it is "fall" is to swing on my front porch swing.  I can crochet, I can read a book I can even work. I love being able to sit outside and not die of heat. It is like it is one of my natural animal habitats. (I am cracking myself up today as I write... I call myself an animal, hehehe)

Crochet Creation - Crochet Bag

You might remember cute bag I made a while back...

I really liked this bag. It was my first bag creation that I made from scratch w/o a pattern. Well about a week or so ago our puppy decided that the wooden handles smelled really good and she made them into a night snack while everyone was sleeping. There was wood splinters every where. All mixed into this cute bag. No way of saving the bag itself. I was so angry I did not even take pictures of the horrible mess.

This was the bag that I used to carry any of my smaller projects around like to church or the dr's office. Things I can work on while listening to the sermon or waiting for the dr. to come in. So I was in need of a replacement. I found 1 set of handle that I had purchased on clearance a while ago. I started right to work on the new bag. But this time I wanted to do it Tunisian Crochet Style!

Sweatshirt Rug

I decided to tie off the work in progress Sweatshirt Rug and place it in front of the fridge where I had planned for it to be. I love it.  Here are pictures of my final rug. Remember this rug is made all old sweatshirts that I cut into yarn to crochet using a half double stitch all the way around. I added a few extra stitches to create the expanding circle. Just went with it.

Sorry for the color difference. I took the pic w/ a cell phone.

Crochet Creations Update!

I have been so busy lately I have not uploaded pictures from my camera since Honey's birthday. (Blushing here cause that was in February.) I found all kinds of Crochet Creations on my camera!  Here are the pictures to share what I have been doing while I sit in waiting rooms for Dr. appointments and other times I have to relax.  That is few and far between these days.

The first set of pics is my attempt at making a yarn ball wreath.  It looks great in the pictures but it did not last very long.  It is to thick for my door and my screen on my door.  Still looking for something else to do on my door but here are the pics from that....

Here is the a set of regular single stitch crochet and Tunisian crochet dish clothes that I made as a thank you gift.

Sorry picture is fuzzy, not sure why???

This is my new Crochet Bag! It is the first bag I have made, I love it.  It is so I have something to take my crochet projects with me when I go out.

I love that it has this wide open top.  So I can fit almost any thing in it.

Here is the next Tunisian Crochet dish cloth set I am working on.  I love the pattern that it makes. It is also fun to do.  I don't get board w/ this stitch.  I am going to make a few sets of the dish cloth sets to sell at a local fair.

VHS Recycled...

I finally finished my first VHS Recycle project...

Here is what it looked like when I started.

Close up...

Not thrilled with the strap.  Will have to work on that for the next one.

The only thing that was a major problem is that it squeaks when you work w/ it. My husband says it sounds awful.  He can't stand for me to do it while he is around.
Sorry pics are not the greatest the were taken w/ a cell phone. Oh btw that is a recycled broken Cinderella tape.

Soap Savers

You may know that I am have been couponing.  Well one of the items that are commonly on sale w/ coupons and good deals are bars of soap and not the liquid bath soap.  My family likes that liquid bath soaps but we are all going to try some bar soaps using our own soap savers.  Another name for soap on a rope, wash cloth style.  When I told my sister about them she asked me to make some for every person in her family too.

I took pictures of the ones I made for Big Daddy and Biggun but the photo program crashed when I was uploading and I lost those pictures. They have since been used in the shower and well I just did not get them out of the shower to take a picture of.  Instead here are some pictures of the additional ones I have made.

(believe it or not that is hot pink not red)

Once the bar of soap is gone you untie the bag and add a new bar.  You can also through this bag in the wash in between soap bars.

If anyone would like me to make them one or two just let me know, they are $2.00 each.

Crochet Creation - Green Shawl/Blue Scarf

I have been crocheting some goodies for family and friends for Christmas. We live in Florida and had a small cold spell, yes a cold spell is the highs in the 60's for us.  This happened back in Oct. and I was sitting on my glider outside and felt wow I wish I had a shawl over my shoulders. I decided to make myself a shawl.  I found a classic pattern and it turned out beautiful.  The pictures do not give it justice but here it is.

Do you see the Star pattern? It is so pretty in real life.

Here is a soft blue scarf and hat that I made for my dear friend DS for her birthday. I know again we are in Florida but she travels to IL.  And just saying that scarfs are great to use to cut the wind down in Florida.  Yes it does get cold enough for it but not for as long as the rest of the world.
