Yes, Mommeeee

Tonight at dinner I had the chance to do some training with Moose. Remember Moose is 2 years old and everyone talks for him so he is slow to really talk, but it is coming along.  So here is what you would have heard.

Mommy : Moose are you all done eating?
Moose : Yeah
Mommy: You mean yes ma'am.
Moose: Yes
Mommy: Yes ma'am
Moose: Yeah uhuh
Mommy: Yes ma'am

Finally Moose looks up at me in his cute little face with a question in his tone,

Yes Mommeeee?!?!?

Oh my heart just melted.  Poor thing cant say ma'am but he sure can say Mommmmeeeee, the reason for all the m's and e's is that is how he says it. He drags out the m and the e.

This little boy is just too cute!

Trust in the Lord, even in the little things....

When we trust in the Lord with all our heart.  He will provide more then we can ever know.  I just wanted to share w/ you how God showed me this just this week.  Simple I know but sometimes God uses the simple stuff to teach us the big examples.  

This week I have been looking for something to use as an extra in my program for my son in Spelling.  I had chosen a program called 

 

 

I had found it on ebay starting at $1.00 and $3.50 shipping.  I put my bid in for a max of $6.00 and I lost it (it sold for like $12.00 plus shipping o $3.50) and was very sad that I had missed it.  I went to order it on amazon and decided to look again on ebay.  This time I figured I would try again and if I did not win this time I would just buy it from amazon. 

There was a reason why the Lord did not have me win that first ebay Not only was a I able to win the second ebay for a $1.00 and a second one at a different level for $2.77 for a total of like $10.00 total for TWO books.  

See when we trust in the Lord he will share what is best for us with us, even in the little things.

 

Trust in the LORD with all your heart 

and lean not on your own understanding;

Choose Your Words Wisely

The title of this post says it all.  I belong to a group on facebook called Coffee W/ Jesus, we are reading through James this week.  Today we read James 3.  I am amazed at how God puts things in your life just when you need them.  There is NO such thing as coinsadence only what I call a God thing.  :^)

This chapter is all about the tongue and how it is can be used to build up and tear down.
I love the way the Message has put the following verses.

"This is scary: You can tame a tiger, but you can't tame a tongue—it's never been done. The tongue runs wild, a wanton killer. With our tongues we bless God our Father; with the same tongues we curse the very men and women he made in his image. Curses and blessings out of the same mouth!" James 3:7-10

I mentioned before that God gives us things when we need them.  Well, right after I read these verse today, I was HIT between the eyes with a 10 year old who sounded just like ME, when I loose my temper.  Oh that was not a good thing to hear.  I could hear myself in every word he said.  If you have not ever heard yourself loose your temper, it is no fun to hear your children repeat it. How can I expect my children to do things right if I can't be a good example for them. Even when it comes to loosing my temper. 

This chapter goes on to share how we can be wise in all we do not just what we say....

 ¹⁷But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. ¹⁸Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness. James 3:17-18 NIV

I pray God will help me to be a peacemaker not just for him but for my children.  I pray that I can be a better example of how to control my tongue.  To be full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

Training up our children

 

This is a verse we refer to often in raising our children.  I am blogging about this today because of how my life has been lately.  It seems that I have not been doing a good job of training my children.  Or to me it does not feel or seem like I have been.  My children seem to be saying "NO" a little to much instead of instant obedience. 

Today a friend of mine shared that her little one (15month old) got into the fridge and pulled out the parmasean cheese and dumped it on the floor.  My first question to her was did you have him clean it up?  I asked this and then quickly thought to myself "Would I have had my own 14month old help clean it up?"  When I only had Biggun(10yr) I know I would have but w/ two little ones under 3, it just seems easier to scold the child send them to another area and clean it up myself.  Is this the right way to do it? I don't know what is right for you or for my friend but it would not be the right way for me to "Train" my child.  Again this did not happen to me so this was all me just thinking in my little brain.  I did share w/ my friend a wonderful latch that we have on our fridge.




Of course after I had this whole thought process in my own mind not 1 hour later did Honey Bear (3yr) drop her plate from lunch full of food on the floor.  When I asked her to get down and clean it up she was quick to clearly say "No, you clean it up."  Now she did not say it mean or even rudely just matter afactly. Like it was going to happen and should happen.

I immediately thought back to earlier thoughts about training my children.  I took her by the hand and sat with her and told her very firmly "You need to clean up your own mess, please pick up all the macaroni and cheese."  After a little squirming but no back talk (that was a nice treat - no back talk) she started picking up her food.  She also started to squeeze it in her fingers to make a bigger mess. I corrected her quickly and she finished and we washed her hands. 

The whole thing took about 5 minutes total.  Granted if I had picked it up it would have only taken me about 1 minute. But what is 5 minutes? Not much when it comes to training our children how to take care of themselves and complete obedience.

Look at Honey Bear, it did not seem to hurt her one bit, either.  I love my Honey Bear!
