Take it All - Poetry

I love homeschooling, being able to do christian homeschooling we can are able to accept poetry like this.

Take It All
By Super D.

As I lay beneath the tree, and I feel the gentle breeze.
I really begin to see, all the feelings bottled up inside me.

All the anger that I've had, every thing that's made me sad.
All the grudges and the hurt, every time I've been a jerk.

All inside that bottle, the things that make me cry.
I've kept it all inside, but now it's time to say goodbye.

I give it all to Him, the one who cleared my sin.
He takes it all away, so that I can be saved.

What about...

When people find out that we are homeschooling high school, they ask what about socialization. Things like homecoming dances, prom, spirit days, other activities with high school students.

My answer to that is, dances and activities are not in the homeschooling requirements.

BUT….

We have access to all of that and then some.

We belong to the Pinellas Parent Educators Association which is our local homeschool group.  They put together all kinds of great activities.  From "Spirit Day" (outdoor games fun), homecoming and even prom.

In fact Biggun went to homecoming Friday night.

How silly can that boy be?

Highschool Curriculum

I think I know what I am doing for some of what I will use to homeschool highschool.

I am looking at Notgrass Exploring World History

This program covers Bible, English and History. I love when I can combine subjects with one curriculum.  Each also tells how you can count each as a credit for High School.

We are going to use Time4learning.com algebra curriculum. We have used the program for pre-algebra for 8th grade and like how it teaches the concepts. We will keep this one.

The only subject I don't have is Science. Any ideas on what to do there would be great! I am at a loss on this one.

Update on my leg :^(

Yes, I finally have a diagnosis for my leg/calf muscle injury.

The doctor said I have good news you don't need surgery. BUT, (Love when doctors say but) I have a partially torn soleus muscle. After that he stated that even though I don't need surgery this is a very painful injury. His exact words where "It hurts like hell." Love the bluntness of my doctor.

So I was given a new fashion accessory (see pic below) and told not to put my weight on it for another two weeks.

Great, another two whole weeks of dealing with the dreaded crutches.

I go back in two weeks and re-evaluate and see if I am ready for weight and therapy. Oh boy!

If you remember my other splint was just that a splint not a boot. It was not that heavy. Well this stupid boot is VERY heavy. My thigh and knee are killing me from walking with it. Not only that it is big and bulky.  Which means I have hit it more today then I did the other one.

Did I mention I can't get it totally comfortable.

I know I am whining but it huuuurrts. As my daughter would say.

Speaking of my daughter. I am trying to decide exactly what all homeschool curricula I will use next
year. I know I will continue to use time4learning.com with my two littles but I am thinking of adding All About Reading Pre-Reading. Still trying to figure out what else I might add.

Still figuring out what I will do for Biggun to use to homeschool high school. High school is a whole new world for us. Praying for God's guidance in a major way.

Transition from Middle to High School

We are almost done w/ middle school and I have been looking into what we need to do for Highschool Boy there is a lot to consider with high school.

  • How many credit hours.
  • How those credit hours are qualified.
  • How many different subjects have to be taken and the number of years or credit hours to use with them.
  • One thing that had not come to my mind was homechool-friendly colleges.
I had neve thought there where non friendly homeschool colleges. But I am getting my education very quickly.  My son wants to go to a technical school and the strange thing is what he wants to do is plumbing and it says he has to be 16 and NOT in highschool. But other courses they offer are duel enrollment. It is all new to me and forgone. I am trying to figure it out. If you live in Florida and have any encouragement to homeschooling highschool please leave a comment and share. I am always looking for help.
