Finally Sparked

Biggun, my oldest son has always been a non reader.  Finding literature for homeschoolers or any type of student who does not care to read can be a struggle.

But with in the last few weeks I have given him a challenge of reading the first 4 books of the Dragons in Our Mist series. A set of books we had purchased a few years ago in hopes to spark his interest. After years of trying to get him to read, he is finally enjoying these books. He is almost done with book 1. He will have a nice big reward if he reads all 4 with in a certain time period we have set. It just makes my heart smile when I open his bedroom door to find him reading.

Putting Others First

I was sent a copy of Chuck Swindoll's - Paws & Tales Putting Others First dvd, in return for an honest review.  To be honest this is a great dvd. My family thinks it is a great addition to our movie library.

Let me start by saying my kids loved this video.  They all say very still for the whole thing.  When it was over we where able to have a nice LONG conversation about putting others first.  That to me is a major plus for me.  My kids just loved the music too.  I have two littles (4&2) and they danced and danced to it.    The bonus features with teaching resources is wonderful.  Not just for parents but if you had this at church it would be great to use in after care or even in Sunday School if this is the topic you where covering.  I would recommend this dvd.  So would my kids!

The Pioneer Woman: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels--A Love Story

As many of you know I just love the Pioneer Woman!  She is just so down to earth and tell it like it is kind of gal.  For my birthday last year my dear friend CP took me to Orlando for the Pioneer Woman's cook book signing.  That was the first time I had ever done a book signing.  Well she started writing her's and Marlboro Man's love story and was posting it on her blog.  The readers loved and encouraged her to write it all out in a book.  And she did just that!!!!

I finally got this book off the waiting list at the library...

Thanks CM for adding me to that list....

I just finished this book in record time. It was soooo romantic even in the pucking parts.  I guess you have to read it to understand what I mean.  It is a true loves story.
Every gal needs her own cowboy!
I laughed, cried, laughed, blushed, laughed, got mad, and laughed some more.  You could just imagine it all.  I highly recommend this book and will most likely be purchasing this book to add to my favorite books!!!

No I did not get paid for this book review...  I just love this book and all things Pioneer Woman!

Remember Why You Play!

You can not count me as a major football fan.  I can watch a game but it is not my life to catch every football game on TV.  I do like to go and watch highschool football.  So when this book came to me to review I was a little worried that I might not be able to really get into this book.  Boy was I wrong.  What a testimony this book is.  It is a small book full of encouragement and battles all the same.

The info on this book told you if you like Friday Night Lights you will like this book.  Well that is true.  BUT better if you want a Christian version of Friday Night Lights then this book is perfect.  I think my favorite part is how the football team older players really step up not only to take the football experience roll but they step up as in the big brother Christian roll.  If all our football teams remembered why we would have some awesome football!

The only negative I saw in this book is if you are not a football fan you can sometimes get board or even lost with some of the football talk.

Thanks again to Tyndale Media Center, I was given this copy for an honest review.

Hatteras Girl by Alice J. Wisler

Jackie Donovan was a writer who only ever wanted two things an honest good man in her life and to own a bed and breakfast she grew up loving so much.  After many bad dates, she thinks she has met the man of her dreams, he helps her to get closer to owning the bed and breakfast. Is he the man of her dreams can she be able to get past all those secrets to own the bed and breakfast?

This was a wonderful love story, mystery and  adventure all rolled up into one.  I really enjoyed this book.
